EDITORIAL

All the outset we express our deep sense of gratitude to Prof. P. K. Saha, Honourable Vice-Chancellor, University of North Bengal for his proposal for publication of a departmental journal from this year 2007. It needs no explanation that the departmental journal will give the scholars of the Faculty of History to bring to light numberless historical issues and problems of the region in the past and present as well. We had to do our job in a haste for which there are certainly gaps and errors. These errors in future will be attempted to be rectified.

Thanks to the members of the North Bengal University Press for their earnest cooperation for printing the journal within a very short time. Our heartiest thanks to Mr. F. Rahaman of the AKM Heritage Museum of the North Bengal University, Mr. S. Nandi of Concept, Siliguri and all others who directly or indirectly have extended their cooperation for publication of this journal.
