Abstract
The Sāṁkhya philosophy is one of the most ancient traditions of the Indian
philosophical system. Like the other orthodox schools of philosophy in the Indian
tradition, the Sāṁkhya system too considers liberation to be the highest goal of
human life. According to the Sāṁkhya philosophers, liberation being identical to the
absolute cessation of sufferings, can only be attained through the discriminatory
knowledge (vivekajñāna) between the puruṣa and the prakṛti....
